Board Number 4
Apple 630-2878-A G3 / G4 Power Switch Module
I was previously advertising this item as a Macintosh
mystery board because I didn't know what it actually was. An eBay seller,
thepartscellar, provided the following information.
------
In tech speak - Apple 630-2878-A G3 / G4 Power Switch Module. (630-2878-A
APPLE MAC G3/G4 M5183 EMC1832 SWITCH POWER LED BOARD WITH CASE) (sorry
for the uppercase, it's copy and pasted from an 3rd party Apple site that
has one for sale)
It is a circuit board in a metal casing that is mounted behind the front
panel of the G3/G4 case. It houses the Power switch, power led, reset and
nmi (non-maskable interrupt) buttons. It connects to the logic board of
the G3/G4 via a flat cable and is connected to power by the 4 pin power
connector from the power supply. It is referred to as the front panel switch
module in the Apple service manual.
You can use the above as your updated description.

I'm grateful to thepartscellar for that information.
I salvaged the board from a Blue and White Mac G3 Tower that the previous
owner had upgraded with a G4 processor. I used the computer until it died.
I don't know if the board works. Remember, I used the computer until
it died so something was wrong with it, maybe this board. I don't know.
I'm offering it as-is, without any guarantee.
Different computers and different monitors have different
characteristics and might display colors differently. Therefore,
the colors of this item as they appear on your monitor might not be exactly
the same as the actual colors of the real item offered for sale.
